Ahimsa Haven was incorporated in 1999 as is a nonprofit animal rescue group. Our mission is to find good homes for abused, abandoned, homeless and unwanted domestic animals. Ahimsa is a term from an eastern religion which means "To do no harm, in thought or deed, to any living creature." We are raising money to build a shelter in Winchendon, MA and to provide emergency medical care for animals in need, along with routine medical care for animals in our foster care program. Every penny we raise goes to the animals - no one gets a salary!

We are all volunteers and most of us have many regular full time jobs. We ask that anyone interested in adopting one of our pets, fill out an application and then an appointment will be made to visit with the pets.

Since our incorporation, we have been successful in finding homes for over 750 animals, animals including ferrets, hamsters, chickens, ducks, and even a potbellied pig!

Our president and founder is also a state certified wildlife rehabilitator. She has raised and re-released injured and orphaned raccoons, fox, opossums, skunks, bats, chipmunks, deer mice, fishers, minks, woodchucks, red squirrels, flying squirrels, gray squirrels, porcupines and numerous other wildlife.

If you are looking for a pet, have a pet you can no longer keep, or have questions about wild or domestic animals, please call us at (978) 297-3862 - we may be able to help. Of course, we can't help every animal we get called for. If you would like to help us help them, either by fostering an animal or making a donation of money, land, or perhaps by paying for an animal's medical needs, please call us!
